Product Description:Samsung has built a stellar reputation in the fine art of television manufacturing. Besides offering an incredible amount of value, the product itself easily competes head on with similar products costing hundreds of dollars more. How? Simple. Being one of the largest semiconductor manufacturers in the world has its benefits. Utilizing a high percentage of Samsung's own parts allows it to focus the attention on high quality throughout the design. Result? A world-class product that truly dazzles the eye.
Amazon.com Product Description: Samsung's stylish, 47-inch HC-P4752W delivers a high-definition, big-screen picture from a casing little bigger than the screen and barely more than 2 feet deep. The rear-projection television is equipped with abundant standard- and high-definition inputs for use with the latest DTV set-top boxes, including a cutting-edge HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) with DVI (Digital Visual Interface) compatibility through an optional adapter cable. The set's widescreen dimension is specially configured to accommodate the native aspect ratios of your favorite movies.
Whether your passion is for DVDs, sports, or movies, the HC-P4752W delivers high performance and convenience. Three high-resolution, 7-inch liquid-cooled CRTs power Samsung's RealFlect video system, delivering highly focused illumination across the entire screen through incorporated features like HD Fine Focus lenses and a high-performance HD Fine Pitch lenticular screen with anti-glare protection. Samsung Auto Self Focus digital auto-convergence gives you convenient picture focus at the push of a button. The fine-pitch, .52 mm screen brings out subtle image details otherwise unnoticeable on standard .72 mm pitch screens. Auto pixel shifting reduces the risk of image burn-in.
An important feature is the set's 3:2 pulldown detection, which renders DVD movies in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.
Picture-format size adjustments include settings for wide (7 modes: auto wide, wide, panorama, zoom 1, zoom 2, normal, cinema 1, cinema 2) and settings for 4:3 aspect ratio viewing (5 modes: normal, zoom 1, zoom 2, cinema 1, cinema 2). Choose the perfect aspect-ratio mode for your current program, whether it's sports, TV, or movies. The system will remember your last setting for each input.
The set's 2-tuner, multiwindow picture-in-picture feature grants convenient, simultaneous viewing of 2 TV programs. PIP stock-ticker modes include large, small, stock ticker, and up to 13-picture multiwindow viewing for simultaneous monitoring of up to 13 different channels. Stock-ticker mode places the bottom fifth of one channel into another channel for viewing streaming text from, for instance, a cable news channel while you're watching the local news on the rest of the screen.
A total of 11 video inputs handles more than most of the sets out there and includes the above-mentioned HDMI terminal, 3 composite-video and 3 high-definition (standard-definition compatible) component-video inputs, 2 S-video inputs, and 2 standard RF inputs (for VCRs and cable boxes). Side-panel inputs accommodate camcorders, gaming consoles, or other spontaneous hookups, while an RF output and stereo analog audio output foster hookup with DVRs or other recording devices.
HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link the set with any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver). HDMI supports standard-definition (SD), enhanced definition (ED), or high-definition (HD) video, plus multi-channel digital audio--all using a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports up to 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.
A 20-watts-per-channel stereo audio system features two 2-way speakers and benefits from a 5-band equalizer, which is designed to enhance the sound from movies and music programs alike. Sound Mode Preset gives you the best dynamic sound settings for whatever you're watching. Choose from standard, music, movie, speech, or custom.
Finally, SRS TruSurround XT is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1-channel multichannel content over 2 speakers. TruSurround delivers virtual surround-sound through any 2-speaker playback system, including internal television speakers and headphones. It's fully compatible with all multichannel formats up to 6.1 channels.
This set is equipped with discrete IR codes for use with an optional macro/programmable remote control (a universal remote is supplied).

waste of money
Bought samsung hc-p4752w tv a week after the one year warranty was up the convergence went Samsung customer service was terrible the insisted this does not happen with their products. Now the tv shuts off by itself all the time I am going to throw it out and NEVER buy anything Samsung again!!!!

samsung can do better
I have two of these HC-P4752W sets; both purchased in the latter part of '05. Both have served me well, but both have started having focus issues. One TV is way out of convergence when displaying high def input. Non Hi-Def still looks OK. the other one is slightly out of convergence on outer portions of the picture. I expected more reliability out of Samsung. the Auto-Focus feature does not appear to have any positive impact on the issues. Apparently, there is a way to get the TV into service mode using the remote control. Supposedly, in service mode a manual convergence is possible, but I read where other users have problems in this area as well. It seems as if Samsung either poorly designed critical components or simply opted for lower cost/quality parts in their manufacturing. In any case, a TV should last at least 10 years if placed in an ideal environment and not abused. Neither of these appears as if they'll make the 3 year mark.

Unreliable TV, Poor customer service
The convergence board in my TV set died a few months after the 1-year limited manufacturer's warranty. Upon reviewing the circuit, heatsinks attached to the convergence ICs (STK392-010) are just too small to dissipate insane heat generated by those two convergence chips. Plus, not-so-heat-resisting resistors all around those metal heatsinks also caused some of the resistors failures.
After contacting Samsung, all I got was unfriendly customer support representatives with attitude (doing whatever she could do to get me off the phone) and runaround answers. I'm more than certain this model has been discontinued and you can no longer purchase one from retailers but if you ever encounter with one, don't get tempted. Walk away.

Unreliable, TV plus Poor Customer Support by Samsung
I have this Samsung HC-P4752W TV for two yeas now; bought it at Sam's Club. It started problems when it was still one month old, it would turn off by itself and enter standby mode where it would remain until it is unplugged from the power line. Samsung directed me to a local repairman who was unable to figure out the problem, so Samsung trusted this rapairman and left me suffer with that problem on my own; that was an extremely poor customer support by Samsung. I do not know whay they trusted the local repairman than me, the TV owner. I lived with this problem for 20 months although the switching frequency was sometimes very low.
Two weeks ago it developed a convergence problem, which I was able to fix myself by changing the STK ICs because its warranty has already expired. However, the frequency of the self-shutting problem increased dramatically and eventually the TV failed to restart completely. Currently, the TV has remained in the standby mode. Nothing happens when I press the button on the TV set itself, however, if I press the power key on the remote, the TV responds by turning off the standby indicator LED.
This is the worst TV nightmare I have ever had. I would strongly suggest any potential buyer to stay away form this TV; it is like a time bomb that can explode when you are in the middle of your interesting show or movie.
UPDATE: Two weeks later, I changed the main board and the TV is working although sometimes it changes the picture resolution by itself.

Worst purchase I ever made
I have had this TV for 17 months and it went up in smoke. Of course the TV is out of warranty so I called a repair shop to come and look at TV. It turns out a capacitor exploded on the mainboard. Well 6 weeks has passed and the part is still on "backorder" from Samsung. I can't get this part anywhere else its some kind of proprietary capacitor. Don't let the low price fool you on this tv, my Sanyo tv lasted 12 years, this new tv did not make it two. What a piece of junk!
